The fees, in plain terms
Transaction (6.5%) applies to the item price and the shipping you charge. Payment processing (3% + $0.25) is taken on the whole order. Listing ($0.20) renews every time the item sells. How much does Etsy take per sale?
For US sellers: 6.5% transaction fee on the item plus shipping, 3% + $0.25 payment processing, and a $0.20 listing fee that renews on each sale — roughly 9.5% plus $0.45 on a typical order. Sales attributed to Offsite Ads add 12–15% on top.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the shipping you charge, not just the item price. That’s why folding shipping into the item price (free shipping) costs about the same in fees and tends to convert better.
What is the Etsy Offsite Ads fee?
When Etsy advertises your listing off-site and that ad leads to a sale, you pay 15% of the order total (12% if your shop has passed $10k in trailing-12-month sales). Under $10k/year you can opt out; past it you’re enrolled permanently.
What is the currency conversion fee?
If your listing currency differs from your bank’s currency, Etsy adds a 2.5% currency conversion fee on the sale. Toggle it on above if that applies to you.
How much does Etsy take on a $100 sale?
About $9.95 in standard fees ($6.50 transaction + $3.00 + $0.25 processing + $0.20 listing), leaving roughly $90. If the sale comes via Offsite Ads, add $15 more.
